Day in the Life I wit & whimsy

Last year when I did a “Tell Me About Yourself” post (another coming soon!), one of you asked if I could do an updated day in the life given my new career path and I’m finally sharing it today! (Last year’s day in the life posts can be seen here and here.)

I should caveat that I rarely have two days that are the same (which I love!) so I’m going to take you through what a “typical” day *may* look like!

Day in the Life I wit & whimsy

7:45AM: I naturally wake up around this time nearly every day. Sometimes earlier during which I’ll check my inboxes quickly or scroll through Instagram.

8:00AM: Get up, wash my face and brush my teeth. Afterwards I make a coffee in my Nespresso and usually eat a yogurt and then turn on the TODAY show. I also typically post an Instagram around this time, too.

9:00AM: I post up at my desk. I’ll send emails I had drafted the night before, share the day’s blog post across social media and take care of priority items on my to-do list.

9:30AM: If I’m shooting photos, I typically meet Bekka at a pre-determined location around this time. I often try to pair photo shoots before breakfast meetings or morning events to maximize time and shoot outfits I’m wearing in real life.

10:30AM: I work on client to dos for the better part of the middle of the day. I’ll put together proposals, pitch media, reply to emails, develop strategic plans and creative concepts and a variety of other tasks related to my PR consulting business. As I’ve been trying to get out of the house more this year, I may do these to-dos from a hotel or coffee shop near wherever my morning meeting or event was. I’ve been loving finding new favorite spots from which to work!

1:00PM: I’ll usually have a later afternoon lunch at which time I also try to take a break. I’ll watch a show on the DVR or check Instagram. Sometimes I’ll go to the post office or the grocery store to get myself back out of the house and breathe in some fresh air. Lately I’ve been trying to do a meditation session.

3:00PM: Late afternoon I typically work to finish the next day’s blog post. I’ll edit photos, update my editorial calendar and reply to blog-related emails. Some days I do late afternoon conference calls with my West Coast-based clients.

5:30PM: I try to wind down work by this time as I know I’ll be logged on later in the evening typically. I love taking 5:30 or 6:30 Flywheel or Flybarre classes and typically do so 4-5 times per week. Oftentimes I have events that are in the evening so those will be either off-days from workouts or I’ll fit in a morning workout or aim to go to a class around 4:30. I’m forever grateful for my flexible schedule that allows me to really mold and shape my days to maximize balancing what I need to do and what I want to do. For me scheduling my workouts on my calendar as though they are meetings is crucial.

7:00PM: I’ll make dinner or order Seamless. With dry January I’ve been making a lot of meals at home which has been so nice! This is my go-to recipe this time of year because it’ll give me leftovers for at least two days and it is so delicious. I’ve also been making these meatballs a lot. I’m making a conscience effort to try and not rely on takeout during the week.

9:30PM: I like getting a head start on the next day’s to-do list before bed. I’ll make a cup of tea and work from my bed on replying to emails and saving them as drafts, do some Pinning, see what is happening on my favorite blogs and plan future content.

11:00PM: Given my attempt to read more this year, I’ll try and devote twenty minutes to reading and then maybe do a meditation session before I turn the lights out around 11:30 or 11:45PM.

And there you have it! That’s as “typical” as it gets around these parts. I’ve mentioned before that I try to avoid Monday meetings which has been a great way to start each week for me on a productive note. I also try to avoid mid-day events or lunch meetings so my day isn’t thrown off but I do make exceptions here and there!

Such a fun post – it’s always nice to see how people’s lives vary! And that’s amazing that you incorporate a workout into your routine so often… definitely something I need to work on!

It’s definitely a work in progress haha! I’m so much better than I used to be though and can’t recommend scheduling your workouts like meetings on your calendar enough – it helps so much!

Great post, thanks for sharing your day…..so many people have a misperception of the amount of hours it takes for an entrepreneur to be successful, it’s usually so much more than a traditional job but it’s all yours so the hours mean so much more!

Aaannnddd……you must also be a mind reader with that veggie chili recipe, I went to lunch with a friend today where conversation lead to my ongoing quest to find a good…… “veggie chili’ recipe! I plan to try this one soon! Thx
