crop top + lace skirt

Have you guys checked out Banana Republic’s revamped look and new collection? There are so many great pieces and I am loving the refresh this brand took. I picked up this lace skirt before I went to Grand Cayman to pair with my first ever crop top. I popped into the new BR flagship on Lower Fifth Avenue last weekend and had I not been on the phone, would have been picking up pieces left and right! I love this trapeze dress (would look so chic paired with a panama hat), this vest (which would look great paired with a LWD like this one I own), this shell and these fun sneaks that come in so many great colors. Perfect for the weekend with a pair of boyfriend jeans.

Historically I haven’t been able to wear crop tops. I have a rather large chest and that makes it prohibitive in most cases. I’ll need a large but then the arm holes gape and don’t look flattering or the material stretches across my chest. That being said, I’ve always loved the look of a minimal crop top paired with a high waisted skirt so when my roommate tried this one on during a recent visit to Aritizia, I followed suit and it turned out it actually fit. The black is slimming and I can wear a regular bra with it- PRAISE THE CROP TOP LORDS.

I wore this outfit in Grand Cayman as well and finally got to break out my Ted Baker heels that I scored on sale last year (p.s they come in 3 colors and are now under $100!) I am obsessed with the suede ankle ties and can’t wait to pair them with more little white dress numbers. Thinking about getting the blue next but someone needs to curb their shoe purchasing habits…(*raises hand*)

I’ve been out in California this week and am now in Seattle so it  has been a busy and exhausting week to say the least. There’s something about April thought in where I feel like with Spring starting to blossom and everyone emerging from their Winter hibernation modes that makes me want to really GSD (#getshitdone). Anyone share the same sentiment? I do need a few more hours in the day to sleep but hey, when don’t we all?

And one last PSA – don’t forget to shop the  Shopbop’s Friends & Family sale ! It ends tomorrow morning at 4AM EST!

the new boyfriend

I’m a jeans girl through and through (in case you missed my post on the jeans every girl should have in their closet – see it HERE) and boyfriend jeans paired with pumps is one of my favorite looks. When I slipped on this particular pair I was instantly smitten. They are so lightweight and soft that they feel more like wearing pjs. They are perfectly slouchy and I love the light distressing. If you are in the market for a pair of boyfriend jeans, seriously these should be the ones you pick. I’ve owned them for 2 weeks and already worn them 2 times!

And a note about this sweater – it is on sale for under $40 and is perfectly cropped. It hits right below your waist and I’ve been pairing it with jeans, skirts and layered over dresses. It also comes in three colors! Thinking of buying the gray next…

A funny story about these photos. It was Thursday morning and snow was predicted the next day and as I’m standing on the corner waiting for Bekka (shivering- coat & scarf not pictured!), all of a sudden I think dust is coming down from the building across from me under construction. I then realize NOPE…it is snow. Unpredicted snowflakes and I’m standing in heels with exposed ankles like a real idiot. Bekka rounds the corner and we both have looks of disbelief on our faces. Truly a never ending winter and a moment you think to yourself “what the hell am I doing taking photos in this outfit in these conditions?” HA!

This week has nearly done me in. I’m ready for all of the lots of wine this weekend with girlfriends while fitting in lots of to-dos before heading out to California + Washington on Monday. So much to do before I board that plane but I can tell you that I will definitely be packing these jeans.

You guys, it’s almost Friday!

outfit // little white skirt

Ever had a package not show up? The anxiety is real. That’s what happened with this little bag from this project with Lyst. FedEx just couldn’t tell me where it had gone despite saying it had been delivered. So another order later, it finally arrived.

I’ve carried my Sophie Hulme Bowling Bag many times on this blog (see here, here, here) and I absolutely love her aesthetic so am happy to have this compact envelope bag in my rotation. It’ll be perfect for so many of my upcoming trips and I love that it has a detachable strap easily making it a clutch. Thank you, handbag gods, for versatility.

This week has been an insane one. Why is it that when you decide to go on vacation that you all of a sudden stress out before you depart? I’ve been running around trying to do what seems like a million things this week. The bank, the drugstore (so many times!), Sephora, physical therapy, my laundry, next week’s blog posts…I could go on and on. I’ve been feeling so strung out! All the more reason for a trip I guess? Does anyone else feel totally frazzled before you go somewhere?

In the end, all that matters is that I’m headed somewhere where A) a passport is required and B) no tights are needed.

Stick around for a roundup tomorrow and a packing list on Saturday talking about where I’m headed! XO
