A Midsummer Night’s Dream

Linen Dress on Meghan Donovan of wit & whimsy

I’m not really one for Shakespeare but I have to imagine this outfit would be perfect for my version of a Midsummer Night’s Dream as a girl in New York City.

This dress has no doubt been the MVP of my wardrobe this summer. I have worn it so.very.much. It’s so comfortable and yet stylish with the cute strap detail, the midi length & the sassy slit. It looks good with heels, sandals, slides and even sneakers like I wore it in Portugal. With the crazy humidity of late I’m also grateful it is in black but I was wearing it so much I ended up purchasing the ivory/red striped version, too and I love it equally as much!

For these photos I dressed it up with classic + chic accessories. I love how versatile of a canvas this dress creates. To me that is the mark of something worth investing in. (The dress comes in some other fun patterns, too). A couple other midi dresses by the same brand that I have my eye on include this one, this one, this one & this one.

Reformation Dress (wearing a 10 – I tailored the straps to shorten them) // Similar Straw Hat // Bag // Chanel Heels (similar more budget friendly options here, here) // Watch

p.s. another Reformation dress I’ve been wearing lots and ways to improve a bad day.

That dress is just the cutest! I’m trying so hard to cut back on my shopping – I have an obscene amount of lovely clothing, and I am not a fashion or style blogger so I have no need for more stuff – but this one is really tempting me!

  3. Oh I love, love, love this entire look on you so much – so classic and chic and perfect for every occasion. I wish we could get Reformation in the UK as I’m now completely smitten with this dress after seeing it on you a few times (and also want the striped version). Would you say they run small? Debating whether to suck up the import duties and just order it (but can’t return it if I do so thought I’d check).

Their sizing is rather awful unfortunately. DEFINITELY run small. I’m wearing a 10 here (usually a size 6 US.) I hope they start doing international shipping/easy returns soon!!
